Ubuntu is the operating system of choice for about half of all desktops running Linux. It has become popular in large part because it was designed with average users in mind, rather than as a tool for programmers. Open source and free to use, Ubuntu is constantly updated with new features that continue to improve the functionality of the OS.

Of course, there are a few downsides to using a non-Windows operating system – the main one being that there are many computer programs made specifically for Windows that aren’t released for Linux. Even just a few years ago, this was a major issue, and severely limited what you could do when running Linux. However, there are now several workarounds available for this – including a couple that make it easy to play blackjack on Ubuntu.

The easiest way to play blackjack from an Ubuntu system is by utilizing the browser-based software clients now offered by most online casinos. These instant play casinos can be run in any updated web browser, regardless of the operating system you’re running. This is the quickest way to start playing online blackjack on your Ubuntu machine.

On the other hand, no download casinos do sometimes lack some of the games and features that are present in the downloadable software clients. Unfortunately, these downloadable casinos are generally only made available to Windows users, which would seem to limit the options for everyone else.

But there are ways to get around this problem and use this software while running Ubuntu. Perhaps the best way to do this is through a program known as Wine. This free program is designed to allow you to run Windows programs in your Linux environment, giving you access to the entire library of Windows software – including online casino software.

All you’ll need to do is download Wine and install it. Then, download the client for the gambling site of your choice. Most of the time, it will run perfectly through Wine – you won’t have to do anything else. Occasionally, you’ll find that you need to play with some settings, or even that a program won’t work exactly like it was intended. But for the most part, this shouldn’t stop you from being able to playing blackjack on Ubuntu!

If you’re not that comfortable with a technical side of computers, we recommend using the web-based casino programs, since they’ll work for you with no hassle and no fooling around with programs. But if you’re happy to play around with Wine a bit, it definitely gives you more options and will probably open up some blackjack games that you simply can’t get in the instant-play casinos. Either way, Ubuntu blackjack is just a few minutes away – using Linux no longer needs to be a reason not to play online blackjack!
