Please read the Crazy Pineapple rules prior to reading this.
Crazy Pineapple Hi/Lo means that at the showdown, the player with the worse poker hand may actually split the pot with the player with the poker best hand. However some conditions must be met for a low hand to qualify.
Typically, the highest hand a player can have is 8 high. So having a pair disqualifies you from a low hand. That’s why hi/lo games are frequently referred to as 8/b where 8 is the highest and “b” stands for “best”, so high 8 hands and best hands win. When looking at low hands, usually straights or flushes don’t count. So the best low hand you can have is actually A-2-3-4-5. But always check the rules of the house as this may vary from table to table, or from one poker site to the next. When straights and flushes do count, then the best low hand becomes A-2-3-4-6 unsuited.
In the event where no “valid” low hand occurs, then the high hand wins the entire pot.
